February 28, 2010 // Posted in Software (Tags: , , , ) |  1 Comment

Was hoping for a few tips. I want to record a market update for work that i’ll post on my website. I send out weekly emails that i’ll include the link to the video. I’ll keep the video to approx 2 minutes.I bought a Sony ‘network sharing’ digital camera to shoot the video, and I currently use godaddys website tonight to design & host my website. i’m somewhat knowledable, so i would like to do this all myself.tips i’m looking for are, do i need to and how to compress video, so that it doesn’t take long to load on my website. is there one format that will perform best for this use? If you can think of any other tips, please let me know. thanks in advance.

How can we get the Internet companies to fix our system files that get messed up because of using the Internet

February 8, 2010 // Posted in Software (Tags: , , , ) |  1 Comment

Our computers are getting destroyed because of using the internet. That’s a fact, and they make you click, that you accept that they aren’t responsible for any damage to your computer otherwise you can’t use the internet.

Everybody’s computer gets infected by downloading things and simply surfing, and that systems32 file gets damaged so you can’t start your computer up; or you have to buy their software to fix it before that file gets messed up.

THE INTERNET COMPANIES ARE ROBBING EVERYBODY.

What can be done to get them to be responsible for what they damage?

I am looking to take my blog to the next step and start doing Podcasts. I need a good but inexpensive Mic?

I also need software to make this as easy as possible. I have a lot of information on computers and internet marketing that would be beneficial to people. I have Vista 32bit Ultimate edition and I would like recommendations from people with successful podcasts.

Is there a program like Internet companies use so they can manually fix your PC themselves available?

I remember one day HP made me download a program that allowed them to control my PC.

Wondering if there was a program available online that does the same thing.
For Teamviewer, what does the other person have to do so I can connect to them?

What is the best client-side email organization software?

September 3, 2009 // Posted in Software (Tags: , , , ) |  1 Comment

I currently use MS Outlook and NEO (Nelson Email Organizer) to sort my email. NEO is nice, but it doesn’t do everything that I want it to.

What is the best software to organize my email? I recieve several hundred emails a day, of which maybe 20 are important. I would like a system that:
– Allows me to access a number of POP accounts

– Allows me to respond “from” a variety of accounts

– Automatically sorts emails based on a variety of custom rules (email from certain people gets treated differently)

– Allows me to categorize emails into different categories and easily access those categories (like Gmail)

– Is a client-side application or plugin (Gmail is great, but I need to be able to work offline)

– Allows fast access to a by-contact view of my mail — I need to be able to very quickly sort by sender regardless of where the email is stored. (NEO is great at this).

I don’t care if I stick with the “folder” metaphor or not. Thunderbird?
One especially-important feature would be the ability to tag a single email with multiple categories. Outlook (as I currently use it) allows categories, but I have to manually type them in each time. That’s not acceptable. I’d like to just be able to click and add an email to “personal” “to-do” and “finance” all at once, without having to type each category name out or do a lot of right-clicking around.
Mozilla Thunderbird 2’s tag feature is close but not quite there. Is there any system that has a tag toolbar that just allows clicking straight onto tags to mark messages, or to find all messages with that tag? In Thunderbird one has to open the tag button before applying a tag, and then actually search by tag later. I’d love a system that got away from the folder metaphor. I know that I’m being picky about extra clicks here and there, but they add up with hundreds of messages a day.
The save-search-as-folder thing in Thunderbird 2 is cool — that acutally solves all but 2 problems:

1 — Still takes too many clicks to tag something.

2 — Still no fast “find all messages by a person, regardless of the folder” feature like NEO.

Thanks for the good answer re: Thunderbird, it’s very much appreciated.

how do you email software programs?

September 2, 2009 // Posted in Software (Tags: , , , ) |  2 Comments

i was wondering you know when you download a program from the web how you can either run it, or save it, and when you choose to save it saves into a portable icon on your desktop that when you click on it it extracts and installs! so you can transfer it from pc to pc with a cd, thumbdrive etc. well i was wondering if a file like that could be attached to an email so instead of people going to a websites and downloading the program, it would be attached to my email and they would download off that way to there pc?
