I’m sorry, but how can you consult for others when you don’t know how to solve the same problem for yourself?

Your only investment can be your brain. Do it out of the standard. Use e mails/newsletters. I am tired now but we can exchange e-mails. Thanks.

Well of course free publicity is the ultimate goal but its hard to come by, and it isnt always positive.

there are a lot of websites that let you advertise for free or for exchange of a link to their site, but most of them are BS.

I found a webpage with a list of the 10 best completely free online advertising sources. Good sources of some of the most trafficked websites on the internet.

    anyway here is the link

the list is the first article at the top.

Have you thought about pay per click programs? The two biggest, I think, are Yahoo! and Google

A few free resources – check out the sources box for links:

    1) Create a blog pertaining to your field

    2) Use Yahoo! Local & Yahoo! Groups – Be sure to read the TOS for each one!

    3) Write articles pertaining to your field and/or expertise.

    4) Advertise on Craiglist

Also, consider signing up for an affiliate program. These programs enable you to advertise on other’s sites (your affiliates) and once a sale is made to you, your affiliates & the program are paid a commission.

I listed a few handy sites & articles relating to marketing, promotion & advertising. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

    * 301 Do-It-Yourself Marketing Ideas: From America’s Most Innovative Small Companies by Sam Decker
    * Off The Wall Marketing Ideas: Jumpstart Your Sales without Busting Your Budget by Nancy Michaels, Debbi J. Karpowicz
    * Guerrilla Marketing for Free: Dozens of No-Cost Tactics to Promote Your Business and Energize Your Profits by Jay Conrad Levinson
    * Entrepreneur Magazine’s Ultimate Small Business Marketing Guide: Over 1500 Great Marketing Tricks That Will Drive Your Business Through the Roof by James Stephenson

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

I worked for a non profit and we got a lot of free publicity for our hand crafted jewelry program by getting newspaper reporters to do articles on our group.

-Find some interesting element in the things you do and try to get an article written about you.

-Do some free work for a non profit and they will put your name
    in their newsletters or bulletins.

-Do a press release about your business starting up.

-Contact a local tv program and see if they will do a short story on you.

Most local cable affiliates have a program where you can learn to use their cameras and put anything you want on public access. Do a program on yourself and your business.

I was always told, no matter where you are, everyone around you should know what you do for a living. Business cards are cheap carry them and spread them around liberally.
